No one does twisted killers better than the awe- inspiring Rose. Her ability to ratchet up the creepy factor within an exciting procedural.
She then began to write the stories she kept on thinking about. Initially, writing was just a matter of fun, something she used to clear her mind. It wan in that, finally, one of her short stories was published — Do not Tell — and the author was able to concentrate full time on her lifelong passion: writing. Since then, Karen Rose wrote as many as 11 suspense stories. And now… Karen Rose is now living in Florida — with her husband Martin, with whom she lived for more than 20 years, two daughters, a dog and two cats — writing, dealing with gardening, practicing her great passion for cooking and spending time with the house pets.
Her books have sold millions of copies and have been translated in 17 languages, and there are rumors that an adaptation of some of her best works will soon make its debut on the big screen. The incredible work of this brilliant author is destined to inspire new styles while also leading many imitators to follow in her footsteps. In order to save herself and her beloved son from a violent husband, a policeman, Mary Grace Winters decides to fake her own death.
The man and all those who know her will think she lies, together with her son, on the bottom of a lake, and her life will finally start again.
Karen assumes a new identity and becomes Caroline Stewart. She suddenly finds herself hundreds of miles away from the past, ready to build a new life with her son, free from the violence of her husband. The years pass, the past seems buried and things seem to be going well. Even love has reappeared in the life of Mary Grace, now Caroline, under the guise of Max Hunter, a man who has suffered, someone able to understand her pain. Suddenly, however, the first husband of the woman reappears in her life.
Little by little, he gets closer and closer to her, to her everyday life and everything that she loves… Have you Seen Her is her next published work. In this book, a series of young women with common features, they are all beautiful and they all have long dark hair, disappear from their bedrooms during the course of the night. He regrets that he didn't come forward sooner to the authorities and tell all he knew about Simon.
But now there is a new murderer on the loose, and these murders are linked to something sinister that Simon was involved with in his youth. Daniel vows to find the culprit, and nothing will stop him, even if he has to face the demons of the past that continue to haunt him.
While investigating the crimes, he falls for Alex Fallon, a beautiful nurse with a link to one of the victims from 13 years ago. Alex has a dark past filled with regrets, not unlike Daniel.
Alex is in Georgia because her step-sister Bailey has gone missing, and she's looking after Hope, her traumatized 4 yr. Has Hope witnessed something that led to her mother's disappearance? Is Bailey a victim of this new copycat murderer?
And how do the prominent citizens of this small Georgia town factor in to the murders? How many secrets and lies can Daniel uncover before it's too late and his and Alex's life are threatened? As I was reading this book I kept thinking, 'Oh, this would make a good movie! If you like a good suspense book that really makes you think, with a touch of hot, steamy romance thrown in, then this is your book! My only complaint was that there wasn't enough of the romantic scenes between Daniel and Alex!
But when Karen Rose put them together, they were steamy! She can really steam up the pages--she just needs to give you more! I had no problems with the plot or the suspense aspect of the book--both were first rate! She dropped just enough hints to keep you guessing, but not quite enough for you to figure out who the ultimate villain was there actually was more than one! And, she left the door wide open for a continuation of the story, which looks to be about Daniel's sister Susannah, and his fellow agent, Luke.
That is a book I will be looking forward to reading! All in all, another top notch effort by Karen Rose! View all 13 comments. May 17, Daisiemae rated it really liked it Recommends it for: Romantic Suspense Fans. Recommended to Daisiemae by: The fast paced storyline and interesting dialog kept me on the edge of my seat. I read through this book quickly without being able to put it down for long intervals of time, so I neglected things like walking the dog and much needed sleep…but it was well worth it because I HAD to see how it ended!
Thirteen years ago, her twin sister was raped and murdered. Her mother not being able to handle the brutal death and loss of her daughter, commits suicide soon after. When her Aunt insists she move to Ohio with her, she is forced to leave her hometown in Dutton, Georgia, and her step-sister Bailey behind, to escape the horrible loss of her loved ones. When Alex gets a surprising phone call from social services informing her that Bailey has disappeared, and has left her four year old daughter, Hope alone, she is stunned.
Knowing that Bailey is incapable of leaving Hope behind, unless something is terribly wrong, Alex immediately returns to Dutton, and the memories she has tried to evade all of these years.
She finds Hope traumatized and in shock. Special Agent Daniel Vartanian has just returned from a two week leave of absence. His brother was linked to have murdered seventeen people, including his parents. He is given the assignment to investigate the murder and rape of a woman from the town of Arcadia, Georgia. When Daniel and Alex meet, they realize that they are both desperately trying to find the answers to hunting down the killer, and solving the disappearance of Bailey.
I found that both Daniel and Alex both complex characters and the development of their relationship was very intriguing to read. Both have their demons they must deal with, but they come together as a team, and fight the good fight. This is not a book you can skip through. It can be quite complex and very intense at times. Although, I believe that Scream for Me can be read as a stand alone book, there are a lot of references to the previous book in the series, Die For Me that might not be completely understood without reading it first.

She intertwines the two so perfectly- it doesn't feel forced, it has a good pace which will keep you guessing and so many twists you will not see coming. She has such a knack for writing that i started this last night before bed, only planning to read a few chapters, and ended up being up till 4am almost finishing it in one sitting.
Her writing, her characters, the twists and turns and the romance, dig in there hooks and don't want to let you go, or maybe it was me who didn't want to let go. Either way, Karen's writing is so gripping, thought provoking and so god damn good!
Alex Fallon's family fell apart thirteen years ago, her twin sister Alicia was murdered and dumped naked in a ditch, she found her mother dead by a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and Alex ended up taking a bottle of pills to numb the pain and almost joined them.
Shortly after leaving hosptial her life was uproot from Dutton,Georgia and moved in with her mother's sister, her husband and her cousin Bailey. Now thirteen years later, Alex still struggles with what happened all those years ago, the screaming in her head comes on suddenly, especially when she starts having a panic attack. When Bailey is reported missing and her child Hope is found hiding alone in the closet in a house that's more like a dump, most think she has turned back to drugs and has abandoned her daughter- but not Alex.
Determined to look after Hope, and find the missing Bailey, Alex makes the decision to go back to Dutton Georgia, the place that still haunts her still. What she doesn't know is that someone was just killed and dumped along a Dutton highway, naked and wrapped in a blanket just like her sister all those years ago. Special Agent Daniel Vartanian is on the case, only a week after he had to bury his parents and his long thought dead brother and serial killer, Simon Vartanian- Die for me- Karen Rose.
Daniel has come back with secrets, he has come back with pain and guilt, but nothing will stop him from getting justice of those who commit such horrific crimes like his brother had. One secret of his now dead brother may just play a key role in the case before him now, what did Simon have to do with the dumped girl if he was already dead? Why is this starting again now? How many more bodies will there be before he can link everything together and bring the killer to justice?
Okay so let me start by saying, i love Daniel Vartanian! He is such a strong character in both Die for Me and Scream for Me, and i love how Karen connects her books like this. To learn about a character you must read the other books they are in, you get such a bigger picture on what is really going on , the pain they have or haven't suffered, their life, who they really are. It makes for a great reading experience, it feels almost like an adventure through the series, and i cannot wait until a character i already know turns up in another book.
Not that you cannot understand their character by just reading one, but the reading experience is so much more when you read it in order. The stories all connect and there is so much more to be seen. Anyway back to Daniel, he is smart, handsome, caring and such a great investigator. His story, and i mean from both Die for Me and Scream for Me is quite heartbreaking, shocking and builds him into who he is, the smart , caring special investigator who will go to many lengths to seek justice.
I'm not going to go into the romance to much, because i dont want to give anything away here, but its there, and its mega steamy. It always is in Karen's books. How she manages to add a solid steamy romance amongst all the murder and mystery is amazing! I dont know what i prefer more, the raunchy scenes or the mystery and murder aspect in her novels.
Another one to add to the favourites pile! Recommended for: View 1 comment. Recommended to jenjn79 by: First off Loved it. I don't want to wait almost a year for the continuation of the series!
From the first page I was hooked on the story. It doesn't have the pulse-pounding, dark intensity and creepiness that Die For Me had, but the storyline is very engaging. I spent the whole book sorting through the details, trying to put the pieces together and figure out who did what and when and why. Rose kept m First off Rose kept me into the story for the entire book.
When the end rolled around, I was still just as interested as I was in the beginning and even though I'd figured out a lot of the plot there were still a few surprises.
Scream For Me isn't meant for a quick or casual read, though. It's got a lot of characters, a lot of bit and pieces. If you're not paying attention, not fully engaged in reading it, I can imagine it would be easy to get confused or lost.
There's just so much going on. You have to be into the story for it to make sense. And though the book can pretty much stand alone, it is better if Die For Me is read first because there are a lot of references to the previous book. Simon's evilness can't be fully appreciated unless you read Die For Me. One of my favorite parts of the book was the character of Alex. She's a fantastic strong, tough heroine. But she doesn't let that strong control allow her act stupid. I can't count the number of books I've read where the heroine's need to be strong and independent lets her act super stupid.
But Alex doesn't. She's a strong, spunky heroine, but still smart enough to know when to listen to what Daniel is telling her.
Overall, I have not a single complaint for the book. I loved the characters, loved the romance, loved the plot. Everything made sense and was interesting.
And I'm dying to read the next book in the series. I really want to know the full story of Susannah and I think a potential romance between her and Luke would be good to read. I'll be anxiously waiting for Kill For Me.
Jul 07, Pamela AllHoney rated it it was amazing Shelves: Thirteen years ago Alex Fallon's twin sister was murdered and now an eerily similar murder has taken place. He is finding evidence that his dead brother Simon was involved. I have said it before and I say it again - Karen Rose writes some creepy villains. This was not her worst but still creepy. The thing about this book is that there is more than one villain. Some are obvious and some are not.
Although the story gets wrapped up at the end there are unresolved issues that may be considered a cliffhanger of sorts. But the important stuff was dealt with.
Lots of twists and turns that kept me reading into the night and again first thing in the morning. I recommend Karen Rose to anyone who loves Romantic Suspense. View all 3 comments. Fans of dark, chilling romantic suspense. This is the 8th book in her loosely connected series and the second part of a sub trilogy that began with Die For Me and continues with Kill For Me. Big 5 stars! View 2 comments. Aug 20, Kathleen rated it it was amazing. This book was amazing to me.
These are not the type of book's I usually read as a matter of fact they are the total opposite. I find myself drawn into the complicated stories. There are twists and turns that keep you wanting to know what is gonna happen next. Really Bad bad guy's and really Good good guy's. If you don't like violence in your story's then these book's are not for you.
So what's next? Kill For Me of course. Nov 25, Christa rated it it was amazing Shelves: Scream For Me was another great book by Karen Rose. There was plenty of suspense along with a satisfying romance. The suspense portion of the novel was complicated and involved more than one villain.
I didn't feel that this novel was quite as graphic as some others by Rose, but it was just as intense. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline, and I am anxiously awaiting the release of the next book in the series.
Alex Fallon returns to her hometown, Dutton, Georgia, after a thirteen year absence when her stepsister, Bailey, goes missing.
Alex steps in to care for Bailey's obviously traumitized four year old, Hope. While she searches for Bailey, Alex has to deal with traumatic memories that being in Dutton triggers. One day thirteen years ago, her twin sister was murdered in Dutton, and later the same day, her mother committed suicide by shooting herself. Alex's response to the situation caused her to be hospitalized and she hasn't been back in town since her aunt and uncle took her to Ohio after her release.
Daniel Vartanian is still trying to deal with the knowledge that his brother, Simon, whom he believed to be dead, has killed numerous people, including their parents. A week ago, Daniel was present when Simon was finally killed by a Philadelphia policeman. When a young woman is found murdered in rural Georgia, Daniel is called back early from a leave of absence. As he begins to investigate, Daniel finds eerie similarities to the murder of Alicia Tremaine in Dutton thirteen years ago.
Daniel soon meets Alex Fallon, Alicia's twin sister. Daniel and Alex are immediately attracted, and they quickly find that they genuinely like one another. As murders continue to happen and to copycat Alicia's murder, Daniel must find how the events happening now are connected to the past as well as to Simon. He is determined to keep Alex safe, and their relationship continues to develop.
Both Alex and Daniel must learn to deal with events in their pasts so that they can overcome the dangerous situation they are facing.
I loved this romantic suspense novel. The story was very compelling and kept me intrigued. I liked the interaction between the hero and heroine and enjoyed the ways in which they provided emotional support for one another.
I look forward to reading about Daniel's sister, Susannah, and his colleague, Luke, in the next book. This series has quickly become one of my favorites. View all 4 comments. Jul 17, Anita rated it it was amazing Shelves: This is not really a standalone book. You really should read at least Daniel Vartanian 1. I'm reading through the whole Karen Rose catalog from beginning to end. I have never encountered an author who can craft a story like she can. Soon, he will not only be racing to discover the identity of this macabre criminal, but also to save the life of the woman he has begun to love.
