Hardcover Verified download. This book seems to try to cover too much ground..
Its more a compendium of ideas, theories, research, and various interests of the authors.. The writing tends to be jargon-filled and lacks clarity.. There is no sense of an over-all theme or direction of the information compiled, and even less of the wonder of evolution of life.
On the other hand, there is a bunch of information, terminology, reference to recent research and theories.. It could also serve to turn one off from the whole topic.
I have the fourth edition which has an extra pages; maybe the text is smaller in the new version.
I will still order this new edition. The book looks to me easier to read than Douglas Futuyma's book "Evolution" but it is a good idea to have both of them. One person found this helpful. See both reviews.
